The Ottawa Neighbourhood Watch (ONW) Board is currently looking to fill the positions listed below.  Applicants are asked to submit a full resume to the ONW Secretary via email at NeighbourhoodWatchOttawa@gmail.com

Volunteer Secretary

Ottawa Neighbourhood Watch Board is currently seeking volunteer applications for the role of Secretary. Some of the functions include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining a current ONW membership list
  • Recording meeting minutes
  • Calling ONW meetings when appropriate.
  • Developing the ONW Agenda with the ONW Executive and Members.
  • Managing ONW correspondence as required.
  • Notifying members of meeting schedules and/or cancellations.

The right volunteer should possess knowledge of Neighbourhood Watch programs, experience with working on a board, leadership within the community, good communication skills, willingness to engage in a positive dialogue with the community and experience working with members of the Ottawa Police. Members normally serve a two-year term and must be willing to commit to monthly meetings.

Volunteer Director at Large for ONW

The volunteer director at large is a general position and duties will change as defined in ONW Governance or as needed to fulfill board requirements and address overall organizational goals.

  • Attend board meetings
  • Participate in discussion
  • Participate as needed in sub committees

Volunteer applicants to this position must be willing to submit to a police background check, have the availability to meet once per month in person, and to commit a minimum of 4 hours per month to the Board. Applicants should be team players with a passion for crime prevention and being involved on a city-wide level. The selection process will include an interview and reference checks on successful members who qualify.
